Wat Khunaram
Wat Khunaram is one of the most special temples on Koh Samui.
Inside is the mummified body of monk Luang Pho Daeng, who died in a meditation position - and is still displayed in a glass box.
On paper, this may sound bizarre. But in reality, it's a place of deep significance to the locals and has a much more peaceful feel than one might expect.

What to expect when you enter
There's no noise or much movement of people. More like silence, a few locals at prayer, and a showcase in the middle of it that you gradually walk up to.
The contrast is interesting - on the one hand curiosity, on the other the natural respect that comes from the place.
The stop takes about 10-15 minutes.
Why is the monk wearing sunglasses
You may have seen it in the photos - the mummy is wearing sunglasses.
The reason is simple: the eyes have disintegrated and the glasses are meant to hide their form.
But something else is more important to the locals - the monk is seen as a testament to the power of meditation and faith.
