Butterfly Park

Butterfly garden

The butterfly zoo can be found as you stroll through the wooded area on the western edge of Kuala Lumpur. Other nearby attractions include Bird Park, the Botanical Gardens and the National Mosque.

At over 7,400 square metres, it is one of the largest open-air butterfly parks in the world.

In the aviary, you can walk freely among more than 5,000 butterflies, mostly from Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

You'll see butterflies at every turn, and many of them can be photographed calmly perching on the sweet fruits that are scattered across the park as an attraction.

Although Butterfly Park is one of the largest of its kind, you can easily walk through it in 5 minutes. Still, we'd recommend setting aside at least 30 minutes for your visit.

You will find plenty of interesting informational texts on site.

Entrance fees and opening hours

The ticket price for foreign visitors is 30 myr and can only be paid in cash.

How to get there

Butterfly Park is in a bit of a backstreet, but close to the National Mosque - it takes about 10 minutes to walk here. If you take the sidewalk on the other side, you'll reach the Botanical Gardens within 10 minutes.

There is no public transport stopping directly at the butterfly park and the nearest metro station is Pasar Seni, but the route is quite complicated through a set of bridges and overpasses, see the route map.
