Palatin
The most important of the Seven Hills of Rome is the Palatine.
It was here that the original settlement of Rome began around 1,000 BC and from here the city gradually grew to its present form.
The Palatine hill is now an open archaeological jewel with many remains of ancient buildings, public spaces and sports grounds and is the best preserved of all the hills after the Capitoline Hill.
The quiet part of the Fora Romana
The Palatine is an integral part of the Fora Romana area.
If you pay for admission to Fora Romana, I definitely recommend going up to Palatin.
I liked it here by far the best.
There are significantly less people, beautiful gardens, interesting sights and also beautiful views of the Forum Romanum and Circus Maximus.
Entrance fees and opening hours: can I only visit the Palatine?
As I described above, the Palatine is an integral part of the Forum Romana.
Therefore, it is not possible to visit only the Palatine and skip the main part of the Forum Romana.
Ticket prices and opening hours are the same as for the Forum Romanum - more details.
