Henkerbrücke
One of the most photographed places in Nuremberg, which also appears on numerous postcards and promotional materials of the city, is the area of the tip of the island Trödelmarktinsel.

Here you will find several sights in a very small area, the dominant one being the brick covered bridge Henkerbrücke with the Wassetrurm water tower.
The Museum of the Executioners and the old waterworks
The area around the Henkerbrücke is one of the most picturesque within the historic centre of Nuremberg and you will find several attractions here.
- The Henkerbrücke, a half-timbered sandstone bridge covered by a roof, is one of the landmarks of the place and dates from 1320 to 1325. The bridge connects a pair of castle towers across the Pegnitz River: the smaller Henkerturm and the larger Wasserturm.
- The Wasserturm is an old water tower dating from 1325, the lower part of which is made of sandstone blocks, while the upper part is made of bricks.
- Henker Haus - execution house and residence of the Nuremberg executioners. Incidentally, the whole area is linked to the history of executions (Henker means executioner in German). In the small house you can now find quite an interesting museum of executioners, which you can visit daily except Mondays for a fee 3 eur, see the official website of the museum.
- Henkersteg - while the brick Henkerbrücke connects Flea Island with the northern part of the historic centre, the wooden covered bridge Henkersteg takes you from the island to the southern left bank of the Altstadt.
- Weinstubel - a large half-timbered house adjacent to the water tower now serves as a student dormitory
All the sights together are clearly visible from the nearby Maxbrücke bridge.
The nearest underground station U1 Lorenzkirche is about 400 metres away, while tram stops 4 and 6 Hallertor are 150 metres from Henkerbrücke.
Accommodation at Henkerbrücke
The area around the Henkerbrücke and the water tower is the very centre of Nuremberg and is one of the most beautiful, but paradoxically also one of the quietest parts of the city.
Stay, for example, in a pleasant and modern hotel Hauser Boutique *** with reasonable prices of around 100 eur per night for 2, which are among the lowest in the inner city.
