Rocca al Mare Open Air Museum

Rocca al Mare

The Estonian Open Air Museum is located in Rocca al Mare, about 5 km west of Tallinn city centre, and is an ideal destination for a 2-hour trip in good weather.

The open-air museum is an exact reconstruction of a village and fishing village from the turn of the 18th and 19th century.

What will you see and how big is the open-air museum?

The museum is spread over 72 hectares and in a nice wooded area on the Baltic Sea coast.

The individual buildings are scattered in the woods and meadows and the distances between them are well over 1.5 km. In total, expect to walk about 3.5 km if you want to see all the buildings here.

In the open-air museum there are traditional village houses, several windmills, a school, a firehouse and farms.

There is also a restaurant with regular prices in one of the traditional houses.

Some of the houses can be freely entered, some are only open to the public from the outside.
