Pirita beach

Tallinn's longest and largest beach is located in the Pirita district and is one of the most popular spots on nice summer days.
The total length of the beach is just under 2 km and it's not only a great place in summer, but also during winter when the sand is hard and pleasant to walk on. The scenery of the winter Baltic and the snow-covered surrounding pine trees is simply magical.
Swimming and beach facilities
Although Estonia is by no means a beach destination, there can be days during July, August and sometimes June and September when the temperature rises to over 25°C.
And that's what really entices you to stay by the sea.
However, the Baltic Sea is cold even in summer and the water temperature rarely exceeds 20 °C.
The southern part of the beach is well equipped with bars, snack bars, sports facilities and changing cabins.
The further north you go, the fewer services and therefore fewer people will be on the beach.
How to get there
Pirita is about 4 km from Tallinn's historic centre and can be reached by several bus routes.
The nearest stop at the popular southern end of the beach is called "Pirita".

Tip for accommodation with sea view
If you like quieter locations for accommodation and don't mind taking a bus or taxi to the centre (about 20 minutes away), we would recommend the great apartments right on the beach, where all rooms have a sea view.
