Statue of Russalka

The popular coastal promenade is right next to the popular Kadriorg area and offers several attractions.

Right on the coast stands one of the most famous statues in Estonia - the Russalka Memorial.

The bronze statue was erected in 1902 (when Estonia was part of the Russian Empire) to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the sinking of the Russian warship Rusalka. The monument depicts an angel with an Orthodox cross looking in the direction where the ship was wrecked.

Directly in front of the memorial you will find the nearest sandy beach to the historic centre, around which there is a nice pedestrian promenade.
