Maarjamäe Memorial

Tallinn's largest monument is located on the northeast coast about 3.5 km from the centre.
It includes landscape features and the famous 35-metre high obelisk.
World War II Memorial
The Maarjamäe Memorial was opened in 1975 as a memorial to the fallen defenders of the Soviet Union during World War II.
In addition to the 35-metre obelisk, it includes many different reliefs carved in granite and dolomite stone.
The graves of the warship crews are an important part of the memorial, as well as a newly created memorial to the victims of the communist regime.
