Getting to Molokai

Molokai is the most inaccessible Hawaiian island and therefore the quietest of them all.
Molokai can only be reached by plane. There are no regular boat lines, mainly because of the wild ocean waters around the Hawaiian Islands.
By air to Molokai
Due to the small airport and short runway, no major airlines fly to Molokai from the mainland US or Honolulu. Therefore, you can't buy connections on one ticket from either the foreign or mainland US, but you always have to fly to Oahu or Maui first and continue on a local flight.
Currently, only one airline , Mokulele Airlines, offers service to Molokai. It offers direct flights from these locations:
- Honolulu HNL - 1-2 times per hour, prices from 85 usd one way
- Kahului OGG - 6-7 times per day, prices from 85 usd one way
- Lanai LNY - 1x per day, prices from 150 usd one way
The plane will land at Molokai MKK airport in the middle of the island.
Organized tours
In the north of the island you'll find another small airport , Kalaupapa, serving the village of the same name, but it can only be used by charter flights with a local tour operator. Separate flights to Kalaupapa are only available for locals.
As of 2023, there are no organized trips to Kalaupapa, and scheduled flights to Molokai MKK Airport remain the only way to reach the island.
Ferries
There are no regular ferries for travelers to Molokai, even from the nearest surrounding islands.
