Car rental

The only option for travelling around Molokai is to rent a car directly at the local airport, where Alamo car rental is based, as well as other companies during the holiday and other seasons. Even though there isn't much competition on Molokai, car rental prices aren't exorbitant. You'll usually be renting a car for 2-4 days and prices are around 0 eur 11 eur per day.

Find the cheapest car rental company

In addition to the big international rental companies, there is also a local car rental company , Molokai Car Rental, which can offer better prices and does not appear in car rental comparison sites. However, this rental company is not located directly at the airport, but in Kaunakakai.

General car rental guidelines apply on Molokai as well, and if you're new to this segment, check out our article How to Rent a Car Abroad for the First Time.

Traffic on Molokai

Driving on Molokai is an explicitly relaxing affair. Traffic is really light here, there are no towns and getting lost on the three local roads is perhaps impossible. The roads to the main destinations are classic asphalt roads that take you to all the touristy access points.

Public transport

There is a bus service for locals on Molokai, but tourists can also use it.

The buses are operated by MEO and all routes are free.

The buses only run on weekdays, Monday to Friday, and the exact schedule can be found at meoinc.org/programs-services/transportation-services.
