Car hire

The only way to get around Molokai is to hire a car directly at the local airport, where Alamo operates a car hire branch, along with other companies during the holidays and peak seasons. Although there isn’t much competition on Molokai, car hire prices aren’t exorbitant. You’ll usually hire a car for 2–4 days, and prices are around 53 eur per day.

Find the cheapest car hire

As well as the major international car hire companies, there is also a local car hire firm, Molokai Car Rental, which may offer better prices and does not appear on car hire comparison websites. However, this company is not based directly at the airport, but in the town of Kaunakakai.

Traffic on Molokai

Driving on Molokai is a thoroughly relaxing experience. There is very little traffic, no towns, and it’s virtually impossible to get lost on the three local roads. The main routes are standard tarmac roads that will take you to all the accessible tourist attractions.

Public transport

There is a bus service on Molokai for local residents, but tourists are also welcome to use it.

The buses are operated by MEO and all routes are free of charge.
