Forodhani

Forodhani is the most popular location in Stone Town and lies between the harbour and the Old Fort.
Forodhani's main tourist attraction is undoubtedly the seafront promenade with its many souvenir stalls, historic cannons, many cafes and the large upmarket restaurant "Cape Town Fish Market".
Below the promenade you will also find small narrow sandy beaches, but it is mainly local children who swim there. The water here is very dirty due to the enormous number of boats moored there.

The best sunsets in town
The Forodhani promenade is especially popular in the evening, as it is from here that you can watch the most beautiful sunsets in Stone Town.
Night market with street food
Forodhani comes most alive around 6:30pm, when impromptu street food stalls set up in the park every day until around 11pm.
You can taste grilled seafood, fish, various types of meat, pastries and sweets.
Of course, the sugar cane juice stands are popular.
But beware. Forodhani is the most touristy place in all of Stone Town, and the absolutely insane food prices match it - compared to regular stalls elsewhere in Stone Town, the prices here are 3-5 times higher.
Hotel with sea view
Right on the promenade and just metres from the main harbour, stay at the superbly rated Mizingani Seafront Hotel ****.
