Sinda Island

Sinda Island

Sinda Island is a small uninhabited island south of Dar es Salaam about 30 minutes by small boat from Kipepeo beach.

On Sinda Island there is only a small sandy beach with a few sunbeds (approx 15 usd for a set of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella) and a small snack bar.

Sinda is the perfect place for a day trip if you have an extra day in Dar es Salaam. However, there's no point in extending your stay in Tanzania's largest city just to visit this island - you'll find much more beautiful beaches in Zanzibar, for example.

How to get there

There are currently (2026) no regular ferries to Sinda.

You can try to arrange a cruise to Kipepeo beach from locals, but this is very uncertain and often very expensive too (from 50 usd upwards, with tricky arranging a return time from the island to the mainland).

We would recommend rather use reputable travel agencies operating on getyourguide.com.

These offer day trips including a stop for snorkelling with prices around 150 usd.
