Olowianka Island
As you walk through Gdańsk’s historic centre along the banks of the Motława River, head a little way north, cross one of the bridges and visit the small island of Ołowianka.
As well as the neon ‘Gdańsk’ sign, you’ll find three main attractions here: the Ferris wheel, the fascinating Maritime Museum and the Frederic Chopin Polish Baltic Philharmonic, housed in a former shipyard building.
The AmberSky Ferris wheel
Gdańsk’s Ferris wheel is called AmberSky and, in its modern, enclosed cabins, it will take you up to a height of 50 metres. As Gdańsk is built on flat ground and there are no high-rise buildings in the immediate vicinity of the Ferris wheel, the view from here is truly impressive.
The total duration of a single ride is 15 minutes.
- 45 pln - adults
- 35 pln - children under 140 cm in height
The ride is open from Monday to Thursday from 10.30 am to 10.00 pm, and on Fridays until midnight. On Saturdays and Sundays, it opens at 10.00 am and closes at midnight.

National Maritime Museum
Gdańsk is inextricably linked to the sea and the shipping industry. This is one of the reasons why the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk (Narodowe Muzeum Morskie) is one of the city’s most popular attractions.
The museum comprises a total of eight branches (including the famous Stary Żuraw crane), the main one of which is situated on the island of Olowianka. The museum is housed here in former granaries and contains many artefacts and historical photographs spanning the entire course of history.
Opening hours vary depending on the season; you can find the latest information on the museum’s official website. However, it is closed every Monday.
