A Famosa

A Famosa is a small Portuguese fortress at the foot of St. Paul's Hill and is the oldest at least partially preserved building in Malacca.
It was built in 1512 as a massive five-storey building.
During a battle with the Dutch in the 17th century, much of the fort was destroyed and the destruction was completed by the British in 1811.
Only a very small part has survived and today it serves as one of the main tourist attractions of the town.
You can also take a short walk through the fortress, which is accessible free of charge 24 hours a day.
