Petaling Street

Jalan Petaling is one of the most famous streets in Kuala Lumpur and the centre of the local Chinatown.
The covered street is literally bursting at the seams under the onslaught of locals and tourists alike, with hundreds of vendors selling clothes, food, watches and jewellery crowding the small space. All, of course, are cheap knockoffs of well-known brands.

Haggling is a common phenomenon among local market vendors, especially for clothes. On the other hand, haggling is not common at food stalls or restaurants.
Petaling Street is roughly 500 metres long, but the incredible mummery means it can take you more than 30 minutes to walk.
You'll mostly come across Chinese specialties here, and if you're looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine, we recommend visiting the Kampung Baru district instead.
