Kobe Maritime Museum
The Kobe Maritime Museum is a modern museum dedicated to the history of the port and shipping, located right in Meriken Park next to the Kobe Port Tower.
The building is unmistakable with its white steel structure resembling sails or waves, and is often photographed from the outside alone while walking along the waterfront.

What to expect - museum exhibition
The exhibitions mainly focus on the history of Kobe port, shipping and technology related to the maritime industry.
Some of the exhibition is interactive and suitable for families, but visitors who are not particularly interested in ships or technology may find the tour less attractive.
Many people stop just outside - the building is one of the more architecturally interesting structures in the harbor and sits right on the route between Meriken Park and Harborland.
Part of the museum is set aside for Kawasaki Good Times World, with an exhibition of motorcycles and other technology produced by the famous Japanese company.
How much time to set aside?
- 10-15 minutes: tour the outside of the building
- 60-90 minutes: visit the museum
Admission and opening hours
