Akrotiri Lighthouse

Akrotiri Lighthouse

The lighthouse at Akrotiri, on the southwestern tip of Santorini, is one of the most romantic spots on the island. The Akrotiri Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful in the Cyclades with its rural character and pure architecture. The fact that the lighthouse stands in a secluded spot away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts on a cliff almost 100 metres above the sea adds to its magical atmosphere.

Its directional position makes it a very popular spot for watching sunsets.

The lighthouse was built in 1892 by the French company Collas et Michel and is one of the oldest in Greece. The simple white structure with brick edging and green roof still serves its purpose today.
