Piscia di Gallo

Piscia di Gallu

Piscia di Gallo is the highest waterfall in Corsica. It is located in the Ospedale mountains and is formed by the Palavesani stream flowing from a dam about 2 km above the waterfall. From the plateau, it falls 70 metres into a narrow gorge which continues down the canyon towards the sea.

The 10 best hotels in Corsica

You'll find the waterfall amidst the unspoilt countryside of the densely wooded mountains of Corsica's south, interspersed with rocky massifs.

The marked walking route to the waterfall follows the valley of the Petra Plana stream from a small car park on the D368 road. The total round trip is 5 km and leads through a beautiful valley with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The route is easy and more or less on a contour. The last 200 metres are a steep descent as you reach the top of the waterfall and the best views are from below.

The Piscia di Gallo waterfall is about 28 km from the popular resort of Porto-Vecchio and 23 km from the Bavella Pass with its many other hiking trails.
