Stroll down this charming medieval alleyway, Katariina käik , and soak up the local atmosphere. It's full of local traditional artists, where you can also pick up an original souvenir, and find everything from handmade glass, ceramics, jewellery, hats and a silk scarf shop.

By the way, there are 380 similar passages around the city and some of them served as shelters against bombing thanks to their thick walls. The labyrinth of passages under the whole city was used for the same purpose.

The narrow alleyway runs along the St Catherine's Convent and its central symbol is the reinforcements that arch across the street. They were originally used to stabilise the projecting buildings.
