Sanya Phoenix is one of two international airports on the Chinese island of Hainan (the busier is Haikou HAK).

It is located on the southern coast of the island 14 km west of Sanya city in an area popular for its beautiful beaches.

Sanya Airport is heavily dominated by domestic traffic with very frequent connections to dozens of Chinese cities operated by many airlines. The airlines most represented at the airport are Sichuan Airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainian Airlines.

Hainan Island is exempt from visa requirements for many countries around the world - however, you do not need to arrange a Chinese visa only if you arrive directly to Hainan by international flight without a change of planes in China.
