Haikou Meilan International Airport in a nutshell
Meilan International Airport is located 40 km east of Haikou and the largest airport on the Chinese island of Hainan.
It serves its northern part, while on the southern coast you will find another international airport , Sanya SYX.
Haikou Airport is heavily dominated by domestic traffic with very frequent connections to dozens of Chinese cities operated by many airlines.
Hainian Airlines has one of its largest bases here.
Hainan Island is exempt from visa requirements for many countries around the world - however, you do not need to arrange a Chinese visa only if you are arriving directly to Hainan by international flight without a change in China.
