Raninbow Trees

Another small stop of a few minutes on the "Road to Hana" takes you to a eucalyptus grove. The bark of the trees is incredibly colourful and really resembles a real rainbow, playing with all the colours and even quite distinctly, so you really can't miss the trees.
And how do these colourful games actually happen?
Eucalyptus trees regularly renew their multi-layered bark. First, the top brown part peels off, hiding the bright green new bark underneath, which changes shades over time to darker greens, blues, pinks, purples, maroons, and back to brown. The trees glow with all the colours because each part of the bark peels and renews itself at a different time.
The largest eucalyptus grove can be found near mile marker 7 on the main Road to Hana, or Route 360. You can park in the impromptu parking lots along the road, just please be careful not to unnecessarily obstruct the busy and relatively narrow road with your car.
