Wailua Falls is one of Kauai's iconic sites, appearing on many postcards and promotional materials. The fact that the falls appear as a central scene in the popular 1970s TV series Fantasy Island certainly plays a part in this.

Wailua Falls drop from a roughly 40-meter high cliff in two separate riffles into a circular pool, and the forested area only adds to the mysterious feel of the place. However, the falls are very accessible by car without having to walk anywhere.

Highway 583 ends right at the falls with a small free parking lot, and Wailua Falls is also located only about 8 miles north of the largest town of Lihue.
