Ecoparque Bacalar
We really liked Ecoparque Bacalar, even though its main attraction is really just a long wooden jetty.
It winds its way through the mangroves and over the shallow waters of the lagoon, so during a short walk you’ll see Bacalar from a completely different perspective. The views are beautiful, and it was here that we took some of our best photographs.
There are steps leading into the water from the jetty in several places, so you can also have a swim here. Don’t expect sun loungers, changing rooms or comfortable facilities, though. There is almost no shade on the jetty, so it’s a good idea to wear a hat and UV-protective clothing.
Ecoparque isn’t a full-day outing, but it’s perfect for a stroll, taking photos and a quick afternoon dip.
Admission costs 20 mxn and normal opening hours are daily from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm. Payment is by cash only.
