Isola dei Gabbiani

Isola Gabbiani

Gabbiani, often referred to as Isuledda, is not actually an island but a small peninsula.

The 10 cheapest hotels in Sardinia

The latter forms two beautiful beaches that touch each other on a narrow stretch of sand that connects the "island" to the mainland. It is on this stretch of sand that you can swim in the sea on both sides.

Beaches and swimming

The larger beaches that lead off to each side will satisfy all lovers of tranquillity, beautifully clear shallow waters and a setting away from the big resorts. The entire stretch of coastline is covered with fine white sand, as is the seabed, which slopes gently down from the shore.

The eastern beach of Porto Pollo has suitable conditions for windsurfing and is livelier with several bars and restaurants.

The western beach of Barrabisa is much larger, sheltered from the wind and considerably quieter. Even in high season you won't find crowds here. Barrabisa continues across the mouth of the Liscia River to another beach , Porto Liscia , and together they form a continuous layer of more than 2 km, ideal for swimming.

Accommodation

You won't find any accommodation directly on the beach. The nearest apartments and hotels are in Porto Pollo, about 1.5 km away. Prices are not out of the Sardinian standard and in high season range between 100 eur and 150 eur per night for 2.

Slightly cheaper accommodation is available in Porto Pozzo, about 3km west of Barrabisa beach, where you can find accommodation from 80 eur per night.

Transportation

The beaches are most easily reached by car. There are large car parks at all three beaches, all of which charge around 5 eur per day.
