By air to Sardinia

There are 3 international airports in Sardinia, which are roughly equally busy, connecting the island with other European countries and the Italian mainland.

  • Airports Cagliarri CAG - is located in the southernmost part of Sardinia and has the busiest traffic, including year-round flights from many European cities
  • Airport Alghero AHO - Located in the north-west of Sardinia, the airport is completely dominated by Ryanair
  • Airport Olbia OLB - is located in the north-east of Sardinia near the Emerald Coast and is mainly served by the summer routes of many airlines

Sardinia has excellent connections with the Italian mainland, France and the French island of Corsica, as well as some Spanish ports.

Ships between the Italian mainland and Sardinia operate all year round and some services are enhanced during the summer months.

From the major Italian ports of Genoa, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, Piombino you can reach several places on the island, Olbia, Porto Torres, Cagliari, Arbatax, Golfo Aranci or Santa Teresa di Gallura.
