Where to stay in Greenland

If you're heading to Greenland during the summer holidays, in June or September, book your accommodation well in advance, even 6 months or more! Offers are dwindling fast and prices rise significantly as your travel date approaches.

Find accommodation in Greenland

Ilulissat

An iconic fjord dotted with ice floes year-round, a huge variety of activities, cruises and flights, and the largest concentration of hotels.

This is the most touristy town in Greenland, located 350 km above the Arctic Circle.

The town has a large number of standard hotels, which we describe in more detail in our guide to Ilulissat.

Nuuk

The capital may not have as many attractions, but as most international flights land here, many tourists stay here for at least one night.

Nuuk will offer a few standard hotels, as well as some cheaper hostels and privately run accommodation.

Sisimiut

The best place for individual hiking and one of the ends of the famous Arctic Circle Trail will offer two hotels and two hiking hostels.

Prices in Sisimiut are lower than in Ilulissat, but generally higher than in, say, Nuuk.

Greenland hotel prices and when to book

Greenland is one of the more expensive destinations, plus there is little competition and you can often find as little as one hotel in smaller towns.

Classic 3* hotels usually don't drop below 180 eur with prices , the usual value of a night in a 2-bed room is around the peak summer season 320 eur.

Check prices for accommodation in Greenland on booking.com, for example.

The highest prices are always from the second half of June to the beginning of September.
