There are two ways to get to Barbados: by air and by sea. However, there are no regular ferry services to the island, so the only option for travelling by sea is on a luxury ocean-going cruise ship.

By air

If you’re planning to visit Barbados independently without an organised cruise, you’ll have to fly.

Barbados has a single point of entry, which is Grantley Adams International Airport. The country is very easily accessible, particularly from the USA and Canada, but also from Europe, South America and, of course, the neighbouring Caribbean islands.

Barbados does not have its own major international airline.

Connections to the surrounding Caribbean islands are mainly provided byInterCaribbean Airways,LIATandCaribbean Airlines.

For the Grenadines archipelago – for which Barbados serves as a key transit hub for journeys from Europe or the Americas – you can use the services of Grenadine Alliance.

Compare flight prices

Typical prices for one-way flights from Barbados to neighbouring islands range from 150 usd to 250 usd and are therefore among the most expensive in the world relative to distance. The cheapest flights are usually to Antigua and Barbuda, St Vincent or St Lucia.

Return flight prices from Europe are around 900 usd, and from North America between 400 usd and 550 usd.

By ship

If you’re tempted by an ocean-going cruise, Barbados is often mentioned as a stopover on Caribbean cruises (most commonly from Florida). There are countless companies organising cruise trips to destinations both near and far. 

There is currently no ferry service between Barbados and the other Caribbean islands.
