Oman’s main airport, thanks to the national airline Oman Air, serves as an alternative transit point for flights from Europe to South and South-East Asia or Africa.
Thanks to its smaller size and straightforward layout, it is a more pleasant place to change flights than, for example, the airports in Dubai or Doha.
The low-cost airline SalamAir is also expanding its operations at the local airport.
The centre of Muscat is about 11 km from the airport.

There are already quite a few out-of-date comments here. What’s the current situation regarding visas and transport? Any up-to-date information?
I assume that after seven years, they’ve started accepting cards (perhaps)
As for visas, I’m not sure. Czechs don’t need a visa for stays of up to 14 days, but the visa-free entry process took about five minutes. I’ve been to the airport three times and haven’t had any problems with my cards on any of those occasions.
