Transfer at Muscat Airport

Maskat

Muscat has only one large modern terminal, but it is nowhere near the size of other airports in the region, such as Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah or Doha.

For this reason, Muscat can be a significantly more pleasant and less stressful airport to change planes.

Although you will read on some websites that Maskat Airport has two active terminals, this is not true. The old terminal is already used for cargo flights only.

Arrivals are located on the ground floor, departures on the 3rd floor. All security checks lead to one passport control and then to all departure gates.

The area behind the security checkpoint consists of a central area full of shops and restaurants and three outlets with departure gates. The distances are not great and the immigration control process tends to be quick.

You will receiveyour visa to Oman upon arrival at the airport in the form of a free passport stamp.

Transfer between flights

Transfer in Muscat is very straightforward and quick. On arrival, follow the "Transfers" signs to the desks where you can deal with any queries about your connecting flight.

This is followed by a security check. There is no passport control on transfer.

If you have a connecting flight bought in one step on one ticket, you do not worry about your luggage during the transfer.

The minimum transfer time at Muscat Airport is 60 minutes, but you can usually transfer between planes within 30 minutes.

Transferring to domestic flights

If you continue on a domestic flight after arriving on an international flight within Oman, you don't need to leave the transit area or collect your luggage.

Follow the "Domestic Transfers" signs, which will take you to a special passport and security checkpoint for transfer passengers only.

Airport map

The terminal has a simple and intuitive layout with no satellite buildings or separate concourses.

An interactive map showing restaurants, services and controls is available on the airport's official website.
