Internet and wi-fi

Wi-fi is free to use with no time limit. Connect to the "Airport WiFi Free Meilan" network.

You need to log in to the internet with a password, which you will receive by text message. This should also come to foreign phone numbers, but many travelers have experienced that there is no way to connect to the internet without a Chinese phone number.

Luggage storage

Haikou Airport has luggage storage facilities in both terminals.

• Terminal 1 - near check-in counter 17 on the departure level
• Terminal 2 - near check-in counters A on the departure level

For storage up to 24 hours you will pay from 12 cny to 30 cny depending on the size of your luggage.

Baggage lockers are open from 4:30am until the last scheduled arrival.

ATMs and exchange offices

There are many exchange offices at the airport, but the rates are not very good.

Much better is withdrawing money from Bank of China ATMs, which allow most foreign cards (such as Revolut) to be withdrawn for free. ATMs are located in many places around the airport.

Shops and supermarkets

The terminals are equipped with a large number of shops selling fashion, jewellery, watches or travel gear.

There are also many duty free shops and small mini-markets selling souvenirs.

Most of the shops are located after the security check.

A standard grocery supermarket is not available at Haikou Airport.

Dining options

Haikou Airport is well served by local restaurants and international fast-food outlets.

More choice is found after security, but you won't find many restaurants in the international section in particular, and only a minimum of branches remain open overnight.

Most establishments are open from 6am to 11pm and there are currently no restaurants open 24/7 at the airport.

International brands available include Starbucks, Subway, KFC and McDonald's.

Drinking water

After security checks, cold and hot drinking water dispensers are located in all terminals.

You can fill your own bottle for free, which you can carry through security without any problems.

Smoking rooms

There are many designated smoking rooms after security at both terminals.

Showers

Public showers are not available at Haikou Airport, and you won't usually find showers in the premium lounges either.

Luggage wrap

A baggage wrapping service is available at the check-in desks in the departure lounges of both terminals.

The price for 1 piece of luggage ranges from 10 cny to 40 cny depending on its size.
