Bidvest Premier Lounge at Johannseburg Airport

Bidvest Lounge

Bidvest Premier Lounge in the International Terminal Johannesburg JNB I visited in August 2025 on a business class ticket with Condor.

Who else has free access to the Bidvest Premier Lounge and how much does paid access cost?

Lounge opening hours and location

The Bidvest Premier Lounge is located after security in Terminal A on the 1st floor by the "Out of Africa" gift shop.

Opening hours are every day 24/7.

Access - who has access to the lounge

The Bidvest Premier Lounge serves business class passengers of many airlines, Gold status holders of selected airlines, as well as a large number of credit and non-credit card holders.

  • Airlines - business class and first class passengers + status holders of the airlines listed below
  • Paid entry - passengers of all airlines and all classes of travel can pay to enter the lounge
    • Price is 608 zar
    • Pay for your entry at the lounge reception, where you can pay by cash or card
  • Airport lounge programs - Priority Pass, Lounge Key, DragonPass, Revolut with Ultra plan (get Revolut here)
  • Credit and debit cards - many South African banks
  • A detailed list of all partners can be found on the lounge website bidvestlounge.co.za/partners

Space and atmosphere - comfortable seats

Although Bidvest Premier is a relatively small lounge, the lounge was half empty for the entire afternoon departure peak.

The interior furnishings may be a bit old-fashioned and dated at first glance, but everything is clean and regularly maintained.

A nice combination of brown colours, wood and leather create a very cosy feel.

The lounge has three parts:

  • two rooms with comfortable armchairs
  • one area with dining tables and a small table ideal for working on a laptop

But apart from the toilets and showers, the lounge has no other separate rooms - there are no smoking rooms or quiet areas.

Food and drink on offer

There is only one food and drink counter in the lounge. Compared to other lounges in the international terminal, the offer is below average, but when compared to other airports around the world, it's not bad at all!

Hot food

There are usually three types of hot food to choose from, three different side dishes and one or two types of soups.

I had some great dumplings and some chicken and vegetables to go with it.

Cold food

The cold food is mainly represented by small bowls of salads, pastries, mini burgers or cheese.

My favourite part of the counter was the section with great (but very filling) sweets and cakes.

Drinks

You can only get yourself a refill of water or extremely un-good juice.

Other non-alcoholic drinks are cans of Coca-Cola, Sprite or Fanta, but you can only get them at the bar, as well as alcoholic drinks.

You can also order coffee or tea at the bar.

Lounge facilities

The Bidvest Lounge offers almost no services other than food and drink.

Showers

Showers are available at the toilets free of charge for all lounge visitors. To enter, you must register with the restroom attendant and put your name on a waiting list.

There are 3 showers available, so you may wait up to 45 minutes for an available slot.

Shower time is limited to 15 minutes.

Wi-fi

Internet access is available via free wi-fi.

The internet speed is very good and suitable for playing and downloading videos.

Charging plugs

Plugs for charging electronics are available for most chairs and all work surfaces.

All plugs are local South African only and some are complete with USB-C connectors as well.

Conclusion and my review

The Bidvest Premier Lounge is a pretty basic and rather below average lounge by airport standards.

Still, I had a much more pleasant time here than if I had to wait at the departure gate.

Positives

  • Very comfortable seats
  • Good food
  • Clean free shower
  • Lounge was not crowded

Negatives

  • There are no other services besides showers and internet
  • Limited selection of soft drinks
  • Limited selection of healthy food
  • No view outside
