Largest in the Western Hemisphere

Maui Ocean Center boasts the largest tropical reef aquarium in the Western Hemisphere at nearly 2 acres. The oceanarium is divided into several sections:

  • Living Reefs - the most popular section with an aquarium containing over 40 tropical colorful corals with thousands of colorful fish. This section is one of the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.
  • Turtle Lagoon - a large aquarium filled with Hawaii's jewel, the Giant Karetta Turtles, one of the oldest animals on the planet. You can see carta in Hawaii in many places and in the wild, but here you're assured you'll still have a chance to learn more about the turtle's life.
  • Open Ocean - The largest tank with nearly 3 million gallons of water is home to sharks, thousands upon thousands of fish, rays and other marine life. Of course, there is also the popular glass tunnel that runs along the bottom of the tank, where visitors can watch all the animals swimming right past them with bated breath.
