Wied Il-Ghasri

Wied il-Ghasri

The narrow sea cove of Wied Il-Ghasri is a hidden gem in the northern part of the island. This long, picturesque cove is surrounded by rocky cliffs, along which you can walk to a flight of steps leading down to a tiny pebble beach.

When the sea is calm, the cove is also ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Where the bay meets the sea, divers will also find plenty to enjoy, as they can explore the numerous underwater caves here. However, you must go there as part of an organised group.

There’s also a small footpath running along the cliffs, so as well as swimming, you can enjoy breathtaking views from the top.

How to get there

Wied il-Ghasri is situated within the municipality of Zebbug, though several hundred metres lower in elevation than the village centre.

You can drive right up to the steps leading down to the bay. However, there is only a makeshift car park on site with space for around 15 cars.

Alternatively, you can park along the side of the road about 150 metres from the cove (location on google.com/maps), where the tarmac road connecting Zebbug and Marsalforn runs.

Book a car at Malta Airport

The nearest bus stop for route 309 is 1.5 km away in the village of Zebbug. However, the route is very steep, and the walk back to the bus involves a steep climb.
