This impressive place has become a popular film location, you may remember the Azure Window from the first season of the popular TV series Games of Thrones. It was here that the Dothraki wedding took place.

When did the Azure Window crash?

Unfortunately, on 8 March 2017, the Azure Window collapsed due to a strong storm and intense waves that caused this more than 500-year-old limestone rock gateway to collapse irreversibly into the sea. The Azure Window was about 28 metres high and consisted of two limestone pieces, one of which was a pillar, the other an arch.

The current alternative to the collapsed Azure Window is the smaller rock formation of Wied il-Mielah, standing about 4 km to the north.

Viewpoint - entrance and access

The viewpoint is well worth a visit even today. You may not see the Azure Window, but you can still enjoy the monumental cliffs and beautiful sunsets.

The viewpoint also offers a beautiful view of the natural pool "Blue Hole", which we describe more in the Dwejra site details.

Access to the viewpoint is free and there is a comfortable beaten path leading from the parking lot to the viewpoint, which is about 150 meters long.
