Istana Negara

The new royal residence of Istana Negara is located in a large park in the west of the city. The huge complex, dominated by a golden-domed palace, opened in 2011 and replaced the old mansion closer to the centre.
The old mansion briefly housed a museum, but it is now closed.

Is it possible to visit the Istana Negara Palace?
No. Currently, tourist visits to the palace and the adjacent extensive gardens are not possible.
You can, however, go to the main gate where you can see the palace clearly and where you can take photographs without restrictions.
How to get there
Istana Negara is not accessible by public transport, so the easiest option is a taxi or Grab, which you pay about 12 myr for when travelling from the centre.
The journey time depends on the traffic situation and varies between 20 and 45 minutes.
