The Nebrodi Mountains are a marvellous, forgotten corner of north-eastern Sicily, attracting all lovers of hiking whilst drawing very few other visitors. White limestone massifs with very sparse vegetation alternate with green meadows where cattle graze and forested, gently rounded mountain peaks rising to heights of over 1,800 metres above sea level. In short, the Nebrodi are a paradise for all lovers of nature and the authenticity of the local environment.

How to get there

If you’re travelling to the Nebrodi Mountains, you’ll need to hire a car. You can expect kilometres of unspoilt countryside with no towns or villages, and there is no public transport to be found here. The Nebrodi Mountains lie north of the Etna massif, about 50 km from Catania, and you can reach the central part of the range via the towns of Bronte, Serra and Cesaro.

Where to stay

Most of the hiking trails are in the eastern part of the mountains, where the towns of Randazzo and Maniace are the best starting points for treks.
