The most important monument is the archaeological site of Nuraghe Maiori with dwellings dating back to the 3rd millennium BC.

  • Opening hours - April to October only (10:00-15:00)
  • Admission - 3 eur

Right in the centre you will visit the Cattedrale di San Pietro, a 15th century church with free admission.

In the south of the city you can visit the healing springs of Fonti di Rinaggiu. The area is open free of charge for 24 hours.

The city also hosts Sardinia's biggest annual carnival, Lu carrasciali timpiesu, when tens of thousands of people fill the streets and hundreds of allegorical processions take place. The festivities run throughout Shrovetide during February.

Stay at Tempio Pausania if you want to experience a pretty historic town away from the main tourist attraction. A stay of 1 or 2 nights is ideal.

Prices here are also significantly lower than in the coastal areas of Sardinia, on average you can pay for a night for 2 in a smaller guesthouse from 50 eur.

Tempio Pausania is located at a distance of 46 km from Olbia and 104 km from Alghero. As well as by car, it can be reached by a frequent bus service.
