Broens Street Food
Just a few minutes’ walk from Nyhavn, across the modern Inderhavnsbroen footbridge, you’ll come across a place where I ended up staying much longer than I’d originally planned.
Broens Street Food isn’t a typical tourist attraction, but an open-air food market right by the water, where the aromas of burgers, fish, Asian cuisine and cocktails mingle with views of Copenhagen harbour.

Thanks to its location between Nyhavn and Christiania, it has become a favourite spot for both locals and tourists.
What to try here
Unlike most European food markets, Broens doesn’t feel like a random jumble of stalls.
You’ll find everything here from Danish smørrebrød to Greek pita, Vietnamese bánh mì, fish & chips, and some of the best burgers in Copenhagen.
There are also bars serving beer, wine and cocktails.
If you’re looking for somewhere to have lunch whilst exploring the city centre, I’d recommend Broens over any of the tourist restaurants in Nyhavn.
Prices are on a par with the rest of Copenhagen, but the choice is much wider and the atmosphere far more relaxed.
The atmosphere by the harbour
The greatest charm of Broens lies not so much in the food itself, but in its location.
Wooden terraces right by the water, views of the boats in the harbour and long summer evenings create one of the most pleasant atmospheres in the centre of Copenhagen.
Yes, Broens Street Food is a very touristy and busy place, but personally, I still enjoyed the food there more than anywhere else in the city centre.
