You have a wide range of options to get to the centre of Paris and the surrounding area, especially by train or tram.

Orly Airport is in fare zone 5, so it's not worth buying more expensive day tickets to get from the airport if you're not going to travel further out of the centre that day.

RER + Orly Val train to the centre

The RER blue line B train is the fastest way to get to the centre. Detailed timetable can be found on the website: ratp.fr/en/horaires-rer, click on the blue letter "B".

The nearest RER B train station "Antony" is reached by the automatic train "Orly Val". Detailed information can be found on the website: orlyval.com

The RER B will take you to Notre Dame Cathedral, Gare du Nord or Charles de Gaulle Airport, for example.

Tickets can be purchased at the Orly Val automatic train station from the ticket machine, where you can also pay by credit card.

You can use 14,10 eur to get to any station within zones 1-3 (all of Paris), but it will be more cost-effective to use a combination of tram and metro or OrlyBus and metro, see below.

Tram to the centre

Tram line 7 is the cheapest transport to the centre. The tram terminates on the southern edge of central Paris at the station "Villejuif-Louis Aragon", where you can conveniently transfer to the metro line 7 towards the centre.

For the journey to the centre, use two tickets ticket t+ po 2,10 eur, one for the tram journey and one for the metro journey. The ticket can be purchased from the ticket machine at the station, and can be paid with a card or coins.

If you continue to the centre by metro, buy two tickets, one to be marked when you enter the tram and the other when you enter the metro.

The tram and metro journey to the centre will take about 65 minutes and cost a total of 4,20 eur.

You will find the tram stop in the underground of Terminal 4. If you arrive at Terminal 1, 2 or 3, use the free OrlyVal automatic train between the terminals to get to the South Terminal, or walk through the airport building (about 10-15 minutes walk).

Bus to the centre

Numerous bus connections to the surrounding neighbourhoods and villages offer further options. A convenient option may be the OrlyBus bus line, which runs non-stop to Denfert-Rochereau metro station in the south of the centre, where you can change to metro lines 4 and 6.

You can buy your ticket preferably from a machine at the bus stop, where you can also pay by card.

Bus 183 + RER C train

The alternative and longest transport route from Orly is by bus 183 to the nearby Pont de Rungis station, where the yellow RER C train stops.

RER C trains arriving at Pont de Rungis terminate at Austerlitz station, where you can change to other RER C services towards the centre or to metro lines 5 and 10.

The frequency is 30 minutes and the ticket price from Pont de Rungis to Gare d'Austerlitz is 4,95 eur. Detailed timetables can be found on the transilien.com website.

Bus line 183 runs from the airport every 15 minutes and the ticket costs 2,10 eur. Timetable: ratp.fr/en/horaires-bus

Night transport

At night, between 0:00 and 5:00, there are several Noctilien bus routes to the centre.

  • N22 - once every 20 minutes towards Place d'Italie and Chatelet
  • N31 - once every 30 minutes towards Place d'Italie and Gare de Lyon
  • N131 - once every 60 minutes towards Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon
  • N144 - once every 60 minutes towards Place d'Italie and Gare de Lyon

The fare is 2,10 eur.

Taxi

The daily public transport to the airport ends before 23:00 and after this time a taxi is practically the only way to get there. You'll find official stands clearly marked outside each terminal.

  • City centre on the right bank of the Seine - 41 eur
  • City centre on the left bank of the Seine - 35 eur

Taxi apps such as Uber and Bolt also operate in Paris, but prices are similar to regular taxis.

To Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

The Le Direct Bus service between the two airports has been cancelled, so the only option is to travel by train with a change in Paris.

Train RER + OrlyVal

It is better to allow extra time due to the frequent heavy traffic. A minimum of 4 hours is generally recommended to change trains between CDG and Orly, but this is the minimum. A safe transfer is from 6 hours upwards.

The automatic OrlyVal train will take you from Orly airport to Antony station, where you change to the direct RER B train to Paris-CDG airport.

In total, you will pay for your ticket 24,60 eur.

Tram + metro + bus

If you have more time and want to save some money, take the following route.

  1. Tram line 7 from Orly airport to Villejuif-Aragon terminus2,10 eur
  2. Metro line 7 to Place d'Italie station
  3. Metro line 6 to Nation station2,10 eur both metro rides together
  4. Bus line 351 to CDG airport2,10 eur

All in all, the cheapest way to get there costs only 6,30 eur and takes about 2.5 hours. However, three tickets ticket t+ at €2.10 each can be bought directly from the machine at Orly airport and used for each ride in turn.

The total journey time this way is 3.5 to 4 hours.

Taxi

The price of a taxi to CDG airport is calculated according to the taximeter and depending on the traffic you pay between 75 eur and 85 eur.

Buses around the area

If you have a hotel reservation in one of the surrounding neighborhoods, bus lines 183 (buy a ticket for 2,10 eur from the machine at the tram stop) or 91-10 (buy a ticket for 2 eur from the driver. The routes of these lines are also shown in the map above.
