There is a wide range of options available for travelling to the centre of Paris and the surrounding area; in particular, you can use the train or tram.

Orly Airport is located in fare zone 5, so it is not worth buying a more expensive all-day ticket just for the journey from the airport if you are not planning to travel further afield from the city centre on the same day.

Metro Line 14

From June 2024, the purple Metro line 14 will run to the airport.

Metro line 14 is the fastest way to travel from Orly to the centre of Paris.

You can travel directly, without changing trains, to the central station of Châtelet, then on to Pyramides (Louvre, Palais Royal), Madeleine, Saint-Denis and also to the railway stations of Saint-Lazare, Lyon and Bercy.

The metro station at the airport is located between Terminals 3 and 4.

• Fares – 14 eur (single ticket valid anywhere in Paris and the Île-de-France region) or the Paris Visite Pass for 30,60 eur, valid for 24 hours (it’s worth buying a single ticket for €14 and then purchasing a day pass Navigo in the city centre for 12,30 eur)
  • The all-day Navigo pass for 12.30 € is not valid on this line (only for boarding/alighting at Orly Aeroport station)
• Frequency – every 4 to 7 minutes
• Journey time– 25 minutes (to Châtelet station)
• First service from Châtelet – 5.30 am
• Last service from the airport – 00:34

The station at Orly Airport is the only metro station excluded from the option to use the discounted Metro-Train-RER fares starting at €2.04.

To travel on the metro, you must buy a special single-use ticket for €14, which you can use to travel to any station on the metro or RER network (in all zones 1–5). With this ticket, you can only change from the metro to another metro or an RER train; you cannot change to a tram or bus.

Tickets can also be purchased via the Île-de-France Mobilités mobile app (Google Play / App Store).

RER train + Orly Val to the city centre

The RER Blue Line Bis the fastest way to get to the Latin Quarter (Luxembourg), Gare du Nord or CDG Airport.

The ‘Orly Val’ automated train runs to the nearest RER B station, ‘Antony’. You can find detailed information on the website:orlyval.com.

  • the €12.30 all-day Navigo pass is not valid on this line
• Frequency – 7–12 minutes
• Journey time– 45 minutes (to Châtelet-Les Halles station)
• First service from Châtelet-Les Halles – 5.24
• Last service from the airport – 23:35 Orly Val, connecting at Antony station onto the RER B to the city centre at 0:01

Top 10 hotels in Paris

You can buy tickets at the ticket machine at the Orly Val automated train station, where you can also pay by credit card. You will only pass through the ticket barrier at Antony station.

For €14, you can travel to any station within zones 1–5 (the whole of Paris and the surrounding area).

T7 tram

Tram line 7 is the cheapest, but also the longest, way to get to the city centre.

The tram terminates on the southern edge of central Paris at the ‘Villejuif-Louis Aragon’ stop, where you can easily change to metro line 7 heading towards the city centre.

You only need a single ticket for a metro-to-metro change, whereas you’ll need to buy two tickets for a metro-to-tram change.

• Fares – 2,05 eur (Bus-Tram ticket on a Navigo card)
  • A day pass for the Navigo card is also available here for €12.30
• Journey time– 36 minutes to Villejuif-Aragon
• Frequency– every 9–15 minutes
• First service from Villejuif-Aragon – 5.30
• Last service from the airport – 23:35, connecting with the last metro to the city centre at 0:28. The tram at 0:32 no longer connects with the metro at Villejuif-Aragon.

If you are continuing by metro to the city centre, you must buy a new “Metro-Train-RER” ticket when changing at the metro station for 2,55 eur

You’ll find the tram stop in the basement of Terminal 4. If you arrive at Terminal 1, use the OrlyVal automated train to travel to the South Terminal; this service is free between the terminals. From Terminals 2 and 3, it’s quicker to walk (approx. 10–15 minutes).

Local buses

Other local buses serving the surrounding neighbourhoods also stop at Orly Airport.

• Bus 183 – runs to the Pont de Rungis station on the yellow RER line ‘C’ and continues on to the suburb of Choisy-de-Roi
  • Fare – 2 eur for a ticket purchased from a ticket machine only at a tram or metro stop, or 2,50 eur from the driver
  • Timetable: ratp.fr/en/horaires-bus
• Bus 91-10– heads towards Massy Palaiseau railway station and on to the towns of Saint-Auban, Villiers, Voisins and Saint-Quentin
  • Fare – 2,50 eur (available only from the driver)

• Bus 191-100– runs to the Juvisy, Yerres or Pont de Rungis areas
  • Fare – 2,50 eur (tickets can only be bought from the driver)

• Bus 480– runs to the towns of Athis-Mons, Ablon-sur-Seine and Villeneuve

Taxi

Daily public transport to the airport stops before 11.00 pm, and after that time a taxi is practically the only option. You’ll find the official taxi ranks clearly signposted in front of each terminal.

• The city centre on the right bank of the River Seine – 45 eur
• City centre on the left bank of the River Seine – 36 eur

Uber/Bolt

Taxi apps such as Uber and Bolt also operate in Paris. With the Bolt app in particular, the fare can be around 5 eur s cheaper per journey than with regular taxis.

The taxi rank for these mobile apps is at Terminal 4, near the official taxi rank; however, at Terminals 1, 2 and 3, the Uber/Bolt rank is located in the P3 car park, about a 3-minute walk from the terminals.

To Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

The direct ‘Le Direct Bus’ services between the two airports have been cancelled, so the only option is to travel by train, changing in Paris.

RER train + OrlyVal

It is best to allow plenty of time due to frequent heavy traffic. A minimum of 4 hours is generally recommended for the journey between CDG and Orly, though this is the absolute minimum. A safer option is to allow 6 hours or more.

Take the OrlyVal automated train from Orly Airport to Antony station, where you’ll change to a direct RER B train toParis-CDG Airport.

In total, you’ll pay for a ticket 13 eur.

Metro + bus

If you have a bit more time and want to save a little money, take the following route.

1. Metro line 14 to Gare de Lyon station
2. Metro line 1 to Nation station – 14 eur both metro journeys combined
3. Bus route 351 to CDG Airport – 2,05 eur

All in all, the cheapest way to travel costs just 16,05 eur and takes about 2 hours.

Tram + metro + bus

And if you’ve got plenty of time, you can travel between the airports for 6,15 eur.

First, take the T7 tram line to the terminus at Villejuif-Louis Aragon for 2,05 eur using your Navigo card.

Here, change to metro line 7, which will take you to Place d’Italie station, where you’ll change to metro line 6 and travel to Nation station. For the metro journey, you’ll need a ‘Metro-Train-RER’ ticket for 2,55 eur

From Nation station, take bus 351 to CDG Airport for a further 2,05 eur.

Taxi

The fare for a taxi to CDG Airport is calculated by the meter and, depending on traffic, will cost between 75 eur and 85 eur .

Bus to Disneyland

There is also a direct bus service from the airport „Magical Shuttle“ to Disneyland Paris.

The journey takes around 90 minutes; buses run 11 times a day and a ticket costs 24 eur.

Night transport

Between midnight and 5.00 am, several Noctilien bus routes run to the city centre.

• N22– every 20 minutes towards Place d’Italie and Châtelet
• N31– every 30 minutes towards Place d’Italie and Gare de Lyon
• N131– every 60 minutes towards Gare d’Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon
• N144– every 60 minutes towards Place d’Italie and Gare de Lyon

For a journey to the city centre, a standard Bus-Tram ticket for 2 eur is sufficient. You can buy tickets from the ticket machine at the tram stop by Terminal 4 or at the metro station between Terminals 3 and 4.
