Services at Cairo Airport
Find out what services and facilities are available at Cairo Airport. Where is the best place to eat and where to shop?
Visa on arrival
In the arrivals hall before passport control, you must first purchase a visa collection from any bank branch for 25 usd.
Some banks (such as Banque Misr) allow you to pay by card, but for a fee of about 2 usd. So paying in dollars is preferable.
You can also pay in Euros, but usually at a 1:1 exchange rate, i.e. 25 eur.
Internet and wi-fi
You can connect to the internet via the wi-fi network "Cairo Airport" by entering your email. We visited Cairo airport a total of 8 times and on only one of those visits did the wi-fi work without a problem.
Don't delay buying a physical sim card upon arrival. Get an Egyptian data e-sim quickly and easily on the web airalo.com.
ATMs and currency exchange
In the arrival halls before immigration control you will find many local banks with official exchange rates.
Withdrawing from ATMs of Egyptian banks is not a problem either, there are plenty of them throughout the airport. The withdrawal fee is usually around 200 egp.
There are also more ATMs in the public areas of all terminals, especially on the arrivals floors.
Shops and supermarket
Both terminals are equipped with a large number of shops selling duty free goods, souvenirs, toys, fashion or jewellery. Most of the shops are located after security check and many are open 24/7.
A regular grocery supermarket does not operate at the airport.
There are several pharmacies in both terminals (also in the public area - always in the departure lounge), which are usually open 24/7.
Dining
Terminals 1, 2 and 3 host a plethora of restaurants, cafes and fast-food outlets, including well-known international brands such as Starbucks and Segafredo.
Most restaurants are located after security and are usually open 24/7.
In the public areas of the arrival halls of all terminals you will usually find only one small café.
Luggage storage
None of the terminals have a baggage room. There are also no automatic lockers.
You won't find public luggage storage anywhere in downtown Cairo either. The exception is the GEM - Grand Egyptian Museum, where you can store your luggage for free while visiting the museum.
Luggage wrapping
In the departure lounges of all terminals at the check-in desks, you can have your luggage wrapped in protective plastic film.
The price for wrapping one piece of luggage is 200 egp or 10 eur / 10 usd.
Smoking rooms
There are many separate smoking rooms in all terminals after passing through security.
Drinking water
Drinking water fountains are located in many places in the public and transit areas of all terminals.
Vending machines
Vending machines selling drinks or coffee are located in many places in the public and transit areas of all terminals. Payment can only be made in cash in Egyptian pounds.
