Zayed International Airport is located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre. It is one of the medium-sized airports and is home to the national airline Etihad Airways.

When searching for flights to Abu Dhabi, some flight search engines automatically include flights to the much larger Dubai DXB Airport, 130 kilometres away. So always check which airport you are actually buying a ticket for.

Abu Dhabi is a major base for three airlines:

• Etihad Airways - Most of the time you will transit from Europe to Asia or Africa with Etihad via Abu Dhabi, on these routes they offer good fares (view good deals with on etihad.com)
• Wizz Air - the cheapest tickets to Europe, the Maldives or Central Asia
• Air Arabia - the cheapest tickets to the Arabian Peninsula, India, Pakistan or Egypt
