Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport in a nutshell
Zayed International Airport is situated in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, approximately 20 kilometres from the city centre. In terms of traffic, it is classified as a medium-sized airport and serves as the home base for the national airline, Etihad Airways.
When searching for flights to Abu Dhabi, some flight search engines automatically include flights toDubai DXB, a much larger airport 130 km away. You should therefore always check which airport you are actually booking a ticket for.
Abu Dhabi is a major hub for three airlines:
- Etihad Airways – you’ll usually transit through Abu Dhabi with Etihad when travelling from Europe to Asia or Africa; the airline offers competitive fares on these routes (view special offers on etihad.com)
- Wizz Air – the cheapest flights to Europe, the Maldives or Central Asia
