Since the end of 2023, the airport has been operating with justoneterminal, known as Terminal A.

Flights operated by all airlines are handled from Terminal A. The airport building is huge and very modern. Thanks to its layout, distances are relatively short, and even the furthest corners of the terminal can be reached on foot within 15 minutes from security.

The old Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are now used only for private or cargo flights.

Connecting flights

In Abu Dhabi, you will always transfer within a single terminal.

Once you’ve exited, followthe yellow ‘Flight Connections’ signs, which will guide you to security. You’ll need to go through security for every transfer; however, you won’t need to go through passport control if you don’t need to collect your luggage.

Once you’ve passed through security, you’ll find yourself at the departure gates.

Transfers at Abu Dhabi Airport are very convenient and straightforward, and certainly more user-friendly than at its rival, Dubai Airport. In reality, the journey from the exit to your plane and on to your next flight takes around 20 to 30 minutes.

If your layover is longer than 4 hours, you can make the wait for your next flight go by more quickly with a short trip, such as:

  • Yas Marina Circuit (2 hours),
  • Shopping at Souk Qaryat Al Bery (2–3 hours),
  • Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (3 hours),
  • Ferrari World (8 hours).

Please always use a taxi for transport; the times given include travel time but are for guidance only.
