Oryx Lounge at Doha Airport

Oryx Lounge is one of the smaller and less equipped lounges at Doha DOH, but despite this, it left a positive impression on me, mainly due to its pleasant design and quiet environment.
Who gets free access to the Oryx Lounge and how much does it cost to pay?

Lounge opening hours and location
The Oryx Lounge is located to the right of the central area with the iconic yellow bear lamp immediately after security and passport control.
The lounge can be reached by taking the elevator up to the 1st floor.
Opening hours are every day 24/7.
Entrance - who has access to the lounge
The Oryx Lounge primarily serves airlines outside the oneWorld alliance, as well as Qatar Airways passengers who are not eligible for any of the flagship lounges (Al Moujran, Al Safwa, Gold, Platinum and Silver).
- Airlines - Business Class and First Class passengers + holders of certain airlines' Star Alliance Gold or SkyTeam Gold status
- Star Alliance - Air India, Ethiopian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Turkish Airlines
- SkyTeam - MEA, Saudia
- Air Algerie
- Gulf Air
- Philippine Airlines

- Paid lounge access - only Qatar Airways passengers who are not entitled to another lounge free of charge can pay to enter the lounge.
- The price is 55 usd
- Bookings can only be made through booking.qatarairways.com
- Priority Pass, LoungeKey, Dragon Pass and others - these cards cannot be used to enter the lounge, these programmes use the Al Maha lounge
Space and atmosphere - pleasant design
The Oryx Lounge may be a relatively small lounge, but due to the fact that access to the lounge is relatively limited, it was not crowded throughout my stay.
The pleasant combination of brown colours, wood and leather create a very cosy feel.
The lounge has one main section with comfortable armchairs and seats.
At the very end are dining tables and food counters.
On the sides of the lounge are several separate rooms.
- A quiet room for undisturbed relaxation
- games room with table football
- a room for smokers
- a work room with a printer, computers with internet access and a desk for working on a laptop
- room for families with children
Food and drink offer
Oryx Lounge will offer a decent amount of food and drink. In terms of choice and quantity, the lounge is rather below average.
However, the quality of the food is good and is changed very frequently, so it stays fresh all the time.
Hot food
There is usually a choice of three types of hot food, two different side dishes and one or two types of soup.
I had my favourite chicken and rice, which was juicy with a great sauce!
Cold food
The cold food is mainly represented by small bowls of salads, hummus or sweet cakes.
Of course there is also a selection of pastries.
You can also take away baguettes and wraps.
Drinks
Soft drinks include sparkling, still and infused water and small cans of Coca Cola, Fanta or Sprite.
Alcoholic beverages are represented by only one type of canned beer, red and white wine.
You can prepare your own coffee beans in the coffee machine, alongside which there is a rather poor selection of teas.
Lounge facilities
In addition to food and drink, the Oryx Lounge will also offer other services.
Showers
Showers are available at the toilets free of charge for all lounge visitors. To enter, you must register with the toilet attendant and put your name on a waiting list.
There are 2 showers available and therefore a fairly long queue can form for over 30 minutes.
Wi-fi
Internet access is available via free wi-fi.
The internet speed is very good and suitable for playing and downloading videos.
Charging plugs
Plugs for charging electronics are available for most chairs and all work surfaces.
All plugs are universal, and some come with both USB-A and USB-C connectors.
Desktops with computer and printer
An asset of the Oryx Lounge is the ample number of ideal desks for laptop work, which you'll find in a separate quiet room.
You can also make use of the erary computers with a printer, which can be used free of charge.
Conclusion and my evaluation
The Oryx Lounge is on the whole a pleasant little lounge ideal for an undisturbed pre-flight rest.
Positives
- Different types of separate rooms
- Fast wi-fi
- Lounge does not suffer from overcrowding
Negatives
- Small selection of drinks and also a small selection of food compared to other lounges in Doha
- No view outside
- You can wait more than 30 minutes for a shower
