American Admirals Club Lounge London Heathrow reviews
We visited the American Airlines Admirals Club at London Heathrow Terminal 3 as part of our oneWorld lounge tour.
Lounge opening hours and location
The lounge can be found just about a 2-minute walk from the security checkpoint next to the British Airways Galleries lounge.
It takes up to 20 minutes to walk to the furthest departure gate from the lounge, so plan your departure well.
- 🕒Open daily 5:00-16:30
- 👨👩👧👦 It's busiest between 9:00 and 12:00
You will find the entrance to the lounge marked with an "H".
Official lounge website aa.com/admirals-club-access.
Access - who has access to the lounge
The Admirals Club is designed primarily for business class passengers and Gold or higher status airline frequent flyer programs.
The lounge cannot be accessed without a gold card or business/first class ticket.
- Airlines - the lounge is used by the following airlines:
- American Airlines and all other oneWorld airlines
- Airport Lounge Programs
- DragonPass - no
- Revolut with Ultra plan - no (get Revolut here)
- Priorty Pass - no
- Lounge Key - no
- Paid entry - not available
Seating and atmosphere
At first glance, the lounge has a bright but not very cosy feel.
The furnishings are a bit dated and the overall ambience is rather sterile and uninspired.
Seating is mostly in the form of comfortable armchairs without tables ideal for relaxing.
You will also find classic dining tables or bar stools at the food counters.
At the back of the lounge there are additional dining tables suitable for working on a laptop.
To the left of the entrance you will also find a rest area.
A great benefit is the great view of the airport tarmac - there are stands of large long-haul aircraft directly in front of the lounge, and you can also see the iconic Heahtrow Airport tower from here.
Food and drink
Refreshments are the main benefit of airport lounges for me, and the Admirals Club let me down a little in this regard.
The hot food has a breakfast menu (until about 11:30am) and a lunch menu (until lounge closing time). Soup is available throughout the day.
At breakfast, there is the classic trio of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. In addition, there are usually beans or tomatoes.
The lunch menu on the day of our visit included boiled potatoes, pasta with mushrooms and very fatty pork.

The cold food offer is perhaps even worse.
You will find a small counter with one kind of ham and one kind of cheese.
There are also a few bowls of vegetables, which I appreciate. Next to it you can choose from 3 kinds of spreads and pastries. On the other hand, there is almost a complete lack of fruit.
The sweet food is represented by only two kinds of pastries (extremely ungood cookies and a passable apple pie), a couple of kinds of biscuits at the tea box and also a few kinds of candies and jellies.
Non-alcoholic beverages are handled by refrigerators with cans and two kinds of juices.
The alcohol selection is pretty poor - only 6 types of wine and about 10 types of spirits.
You won't find draft beer in the lounge, only 2 kinds of beer in a bottle.
The coffee is only from the coffee machine and personally I have perhaps never had worse coffee in my life.
Showers and other facilities
The Admirals Club does not impress with the wide selection of amenities.
On a positive note, I appreciate the opportunity to take a free shower. In fact, showers are the most common service I use in the lounges.
You'll find the showers right at the entrance to the lounge - they're very spacious and clean, and you get two towels for free.
Of course, you can use the internet connection and the ample number of power outlets that are located literally at every chair or table.
The standard sockets are British or American type only, but they usually come with USB-A and USB-C connectors as well.
On the far right you'll find a very small children's corner.
Conclusion and my review
The Admirals Club at Heathrow is the worst of all the oneWorld lounges in Terminal 3 for me. I would recommend a visit to the Cathay Pacific Lounge or the Qantas Lounge.
Positives
- Bright and airy space with large windows and views of the planes
- Spacious and clean showers
Negatives
- Small selection of food and poor quality
- Uncomfortable environment
- Zero amenities apart from showers
