Weather in Hanoi and best time to go

Hanoi

The weather in Hanoi has two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season runs from October to April. The months of January to September, on the other hand, are known as the rainy season. As for the seasons, in spring (February to April) the weather is humid, but this is the best time to visit, as the trees and flowers are in bloom at this time of year. During the summer (May–August), on the other hand, there is heavy rainfall. The average temperature reaches 32 °C. In terms of the weather, the best time to visit is autumn (September–November), as the whole of Hanoi is bathed in sunshine, whilst a cool breeze blows. Temperatures reach around 25 °C. Winter (December–February) is characterised by temperatures ranging from 10–17 °C; sometimes temperatures can drop below 10 °C.

When to go to Hanoi

The best time to visit is between October and April. During this period, the weather is characterised by pleasantly low temperatures and humidity. However, you should be prepared for a possible sudden drop in temperature, as nights can then be quite chilly. Spring begins in Hanoi in March and April. You can then expect the summer season to arrive in May. The monsoon season affects Hanoi from August through to September, so it is best to avoid these months. Heavy rainfall and flooding occur during this period. You’ll experience a unique atmosphere during the Dong Nhan Temple Festival or the Tet Trung Thu Festival. In February, you can head to the Co Loa Festival to experience authentic Hanoi.
