Cullercoats Beach

The sandy beach at Cullercoats Bay is sandwiched under a 15-metre cliff between the much longer and better-known Whitley Bay and Long Sands beaches.
Cullercoats Beach is roughly 100 metres long and protected from the waves of the open sea by two stone jetties, a change from the larger beaches.
This is also why Cullercoats Beach is popular with families with children.
There are free toilets right next to the beach, otherwise the beach itself is without facilities.
However, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes along the street running above the beach.
How to get there
You can get directly to the beach by bus line 1 from the nearest tube station, Cullercoats (about 250 metres), and also from Newcastle city centre.
However, to get to the centre it's quicker to just change to the tube at Cullercoats station.
