At first glance, the Bulgarian capital may not inspire travellers to visit it. Sofia lacks an original historic centre, and you can see all the major sights in just two hours.

However, Sofia will captivate travellers with its location right at the foot of mountains over 2,000 metres high, which you can easily reach by city bus.

Although it may seem at first glance that a few hours are more than enough to get to know Sofia, we would definitely recommend staying here for at least three nights. And if you want to walk the entire length of the Vitosha mountain range above the city, book accommodation in Sofia for four nights.
