Modlin Airport is situated 42 km north of Warsaw, so the journey to the city centre takes about an hour.

The easiest way is to take a direct bus. The cheapest option is by train, but you’ll need to take a shuttle bus to Modlin station, which is 2 km away.

• To the city centre and the main railway station: Contbus or train
• To the Młociny metro station and the northern part of Warsaw: FlixBus
• To Gdańska Station, Wola or the zoo: train via Warszawa Gdańska
• If travelling in a group or late at night: Uber, Bolt or a pre-booked taxi

Bus to Warsaw

Two companies operate direct services between the terminal and the centre of Warsaw.

Contbus goes directly to the city centre

They run 8–12 times a day to cover the entire flight schedule. Instead of buses, only smaller minibuses usually operate.

The ticket price is 40 pln + 1,46 pln booking fee if you buy online at bilety.contbus.pl.

In Warsaw, the buses stop in front of the Marriott Hotel, approximately 150 metres from the main railway station (see map).

FlixBus to Młociny metro station and Zachodnia railway station

FlixBus is particularly convenient when travelling to the northern or western parts of Warsaw or for connections to the metro.

It most frequently stops at the following locations:

• Młociny Metro Station: the quickest route from the airport; to reach the city centre, continue on the M1 metro line, alight at
• Warszawa Zachodnia: the main coach station and a transport hub for long-distance trains
• Other stops: these vary depending on the specific service; always check them when booking

The journey to Młociny Metro station takes approximately 35 minutes; to Zachodnia station, it usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.

Prices vary depending on occupancy and are usually between30 pln and 35 pln. Ideally, buy your tickets in advance at flixbus.com.

Train to Warsaw

The train does not run directly to the terminal. You must first take the shuttle bus to Modlin railway station, which is approximately 2 km from the airport.

The shuttle runs every 20 to 30 minutes and the journey takes about 7 to 10 minutes. The timetable is coordinated with train arrivals and departures.

The easiest option is to buy a combined Bilet Lotniskowy for 22,40 pln. The price includes:

• the shuttle bus between the terminal and Modlin railway station
• a Koleje Mazowieckie train to any station in Warsaw
• 75 minutes’ travel on Warsaw public transport in fare zone 1

If you wish to use the included 75 minutes of public transport, clearly write the start time on your paper ticket. For an e-ticket, the start time is set in the app.

A separate ticket for the shuttle bus only costs 7,10 pln. The shuttle is therefore not free unless you have a combined airport ticket.

Where to find connections and buy a ticket

The clearest way is to use the official Koleje Mazowieckie app. When searching, enter ‘Lotnisko Modlin’ as your starting point or destination, not just ‘Modlin’. The app will then display the entire journey, including the connecting shuttle bus.

You can also buy tickets from the ticket machine in the arrivals hall, at ticket offices and from ticket machines at stations. The shuttle bus driver does not sell tickets.

How to save money with an all-day public transport ticket

If you already have a valid all-day ticket for Warsaw’s public transport, you don’t always need to buy a full Bilet Lotniskowy for 22,40 pln.

An all-day ticket for Zone 1 for 15 plnis also valid on Koleje Mazowieckie trains as far as Warszawa Choszczówka station. For the rest of your journey, simply purchase:

• a train from Warszawa Choszczówka to Modlin Lotnisko for 20,70 pln (at weekends, on public holidays and on Fridays after 6 pm, only18 pln)

The easiest way is to search for and buy this ticket via the Koleje Mazowieckie or Jakdojade app.

This combination is only worth it if you’re already using an all-day ticket to travel around Warsaw. Buying it separately just for the journey to the airport is more expensive than the standard Bilet Lotniskowy. In this case, the cost is:

• 15 pln for the all-day ticket + 20,70 pln for the Choszczówka–airport ticket = 35,70 pln ( 33 pln at weekends)
• If you were to buy a ticket from the city centre to the airport and already had an all-day ticket, you would pay 15 + 22.40, i.e. 37,40 pln

Where do trains from Modlin go?

Trains run through Warsaw on two main routes:

• RL/R9 via the city centre: Warszawa Wschodnia, Warszawa Centralna, Warszawa Zachodnia and, on selected services, as far as Chopin Airport
• R90 via the northern part of the city: Warszawa ZOO, Warszawa Gdańska, Młynów, Koło, Wola and Warszawa Zachodnia

When travelling to the Old Town, it may be more convenient to alight at Warszawa Gdańska station and continue by metro. For the area around the Palace of Culture and the main station, choose a service via Warszawa Centralna.

Taxis, Uber and Bolt

Uber and Bolt apps, as well as traditional taxis, are available at the airport. The journey to the city centre takes approximately 35 to 45 minutes without traffic, but can exceed an hour during rush hour.

Depending on current demand, an Uber or Bolt ride usually costs between 110 pln and 170 pln. The price is always displayed in the app before you book.

A taxi is particularly worth it if there are three or four of you travelling, if you’re arriving late, or if you’re staying outside the city centre. If you want the certainty of a fixed price and a driver waiting for you, book your ride in advance.

Car hire

If you’re planning to explore the Polish countryside, you can hire a car directly in the terminal, where several major car hire companies are based.

Prices for a 4-day hire are around 40 eur.

To Warsaw-Chopin Airport (WAW)

Modlin and Chopin airports are approximately 45 km apart. If you’re transferring between them, allow at least 4 hours between your scheduled arrival and your next departure; 5 hours is safer.

Direct FlixBus

The most convenient option is the direct FlixBus, which departs from the terminal in Modlin and stops directly at Chopin Airport.

The fare is approximately 41 pln.

The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, though it may take longer in heavy traffic. However, services do not run at regular intervals, so always check connections for your specific flight at flixbus.com.

Train via Modlin station

A cheaper option is to take the shuttle bus to Modlin station and then the train.

Selected trains on the RL line continue via Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Zachodnia directly to Chopin Airport. For other services, you’ll need to change trains in Warsaw.

The entire journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and costs 22,40 pln. The ticket also includes the shuttle between the terminal and Modlin station.
