I’ve tried the Polonez lounge twice – and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag: brilliant the first time, but on the return journey the food was a bit of a let-down. It’s obviously very subjective, but their special/strange :-) dumplings with goulash were truly excellent. On my second visit, the meat was cooked strangely, as if by someone who really didn’t know what they were doing. Otherwise, the rest was of a solid standard.
Be warned: on long-haul flights (e.g. to the US), the GOLD section is included in the price of a C-class ticket, but on arrival we had the impression we were in GOLD – there was a sign at the main entrance – but we weren’t; GOLD is tucked away inside and there’s a good chance a passenger won’t even make it there, so they won’t realise they aren’t in GOLD and that there’s actually something extra there.
On the return flight, they wouldn’t let us into the GOLD lounge (I’d only just discovered that it was there as a separate section of the lounge), saying that we weren’t entitled to GOLD – or even Business Class – for such a short flight.
To be honest, we didn’t really mind; the basic facilities were more than enough.
The desserts and sweets were brilliant; we didn’t try the alcohol.
